Calling all young Mancunians! What are your hopes and dreams for a future Manchester?

Manchester is dedicating 2022 to young people, and we really want to hear from you! We want you to submit something that outlines your hopes and dreams for a future Manchester. This can be a poem, film, beatbox, rap, animation, zine, spoken word, BSL, Makaton, or whatever medium you choose.

Ask a teacher, parent/carer, or youth/play worker to help you if you need support.

The closing date is Saturday 21st May 2022.

The winning entrants will be invited to a celebratory event, where young people will have the opportunity to showcase their work! There will be prizes for different age categories, and all entries will be part of an archive, which will form part of the city’s historical records. We will also display some of the entries around the city!

To enter, please click here for the Microsoft Entry Form, or email your entry to ouryear@manchester.gov.uk. If you are emailing your entry, be sure to tell us your name and age. Please attach any files/photos/videos as you wish.

Need some inspiration? Check out this video by Burhan Rana of Burnham Academy for Boys. He wrote a rap called “I’m deaf and that’s OK…”

If you are a school or setting and have any written entries/pictures you wish to share with us, please get in contact and we can arrange for drop off/pick up.

We look forward to your entries!
