Ambassador Programme
Welcome to the Child-Friendly Manchester Ambassador Programme! By joining a network of ambassadors from across the city, you are supporting Manchester’s ambition to become a UNICEF Child-Friendly City as we work together to put children’s rights into practice. With your help, together we will build a safe, happy, healthy and successful future for Manchester’s children and young people.
The role of an ambassador
Becoming a UNICEF Child-Friendly City needs a whole city-wide approach. Your support to champion children’s rights across your organisation, teams and networks will help us achieve this ambition. Becoming an ambassador is a demonstration of your commitment to support the wellbeing and development of children and young people in Manchester.
The role of a child-friendly Manchester ambassador includes;
- Advocating and championing children’s rights
- Initiating conversations that challenge, influence and support
- Committing to being informed and knowledgeable about children’s rights and encouraging colleagues to do the same
- Pledging to listen to children and young people and involve them in decision-making
- Actively seeking out opportunities to engage directly with children and young people, creating the right environment to conduct meaningful conversations so they can have a say on decisions that affect them
- Aligning your existing priorities or ways of working with a children’s rights-based approach
