The East Manchester youth partnership held a fun day on May 29th at sporting edge in Openshaw. Over 200 young people were in attendance, joining in lots of fun activities, and exercising their right to play! (Article 31 of the United Nations rights of the child) Children and young people also had the opportunity to have their say in the refresh of the Our Manchester strategy. Alfie aged 9 from Moston was very pleased to provide some feedback and spoke about the need to do more to help the environment.
Children and young people have the right to have a say in decisions that affect their lives.
In the afternoon, the older young people watched a performance about knife crime and the dangers that carrying a weapon brings. It was an interactive experience and the young people were very engaged and asked some very honest questions about this very important issue.
Thank you to all the East Manchester Partnership and staff at 4CT for organising such a great event.
On the 7th of August there will be another event at sporting edge to celebrate ‘Play Day’
