A celebration of…
The 2026 MCC Child friendly city awards!
On Saturday the 12th of September Manchester City Council hosted it’s inaugural child friendly awards at the National Football museum, previously known as the Buzz awards.
This year awards were even more special as they were a celebration of Manchester’s recent recognition as a UNICEF UK child friendly city
Between 1:00 and 4:00 PM a fun day took place outside the National Football museum with young people performing, a range of activities including face painting sports, arts and crafts and other activities, all free were free to attend for parents and children.
Between 4:00 and 6:00 PM inside the National Football museum was the award ceremony – attended by finalists and their guests
We were joined by the Lord Mayor of Manchester, the Chief Executive Tom Stannard the newly elected leader of the council councillor Gary Bridges and executive member Julie Reid, all of whom are duty bearers and are active child friendly champions.
There were 24 winners in total across 10 different categories
A number of individual young people had won for their outstanding contribution to the city of Manchester
Everyone had a great day, enjoyed some delicious food and it was a great celebration
