Child Friendly City Awards

Manchester City Council’s Youth, Play and Participation team is excited to be hosting our first-ever Child Friendly City Awards!

Previously known as the Buzz Awards, this event has been established to celebrate the achievements of Manchester’s young people. This year, we are expanding the awards to recognise the contributions of children and organisations as well as young people!

The Child Friendly City Awards will celebrate Manchester’s becoming rewarded with UNICEF UK Child Friendly City recognition, as well as our ongoing commitment to embedding a children’s rights-based approach across everything we do.

We are excited to be hosting a family-friendly celebration event on Saturday 12th September at the National Football Museum, followed by the awards ceremony also at the National Football Museum for the nominees from 4pm to 6pm.

Nominations are open to Manchester residents aged 5–18 (up to 25 for young people with SEND or those who are care experienced), as well as organisations based within the city of Manchester.

Applications will close at 11.59pm Tuesday 7th July 2026.

Shortlisted nominees will then be invited to submit supporting evidence as part of the next stage of the process.
