Manchester Youth Council Members Head to the Festival of Childhood

In May, MYC members joined the Children’s Commissioner for the Festival of Childhood — a youth festival celebrating young people, childhood, and creating better experiences for all. They heard from a range of figures including local ambassador Tamar who has been working with the Children’s Commissioner.

 On the day, our MYC members led an area youth forum, working directly with young people to explore what matters to them and what they need from their youth services. Alongside a range of interactive stalls — including a mock participatory budgeting activity — over 100 young people took part in our process, with plenty of rich discussion and plenty of goody bags to take home!

It was a brilliant day and a real testament to what young people can achieve when we genuinely share power and space with them.
